Insider tip SKIATHOS

Skiathos is a Greek island in the northwest of the Aegean Sea with about 60 km² and 6.000 inhabitants. It is one of the lesser known islands in Greece and yet, with its more than 60 beautiful beaches, it is one of the insider tips among those in the know and water sports enthusiasts. Paradise like beaches, the Greek cuisine and the lively, young nightlife characterize Skiathos. The center is the capital of the same name, which is also called “Chora” by the locals. The old harbor and Papadiamanti Street are considered the promenades of the town in the evenings. Dozens of bars, cafes, taverns and boutiques as well as a lively nightlife characterize the small town. The film “Mamma Mia” was also shot to a large extent on Skiathos.

Greek Caribbean feeling…

Whether sun-seekers or hiking and water sports enthusiasts – Skiathos has something to offer for everyone. The rugged mountains with good hiking routes are suitable for extensive tours. The extensive pine forests offer shade even on hot days and once you reach the top of the mountain, you will be rewarded with unique panoramas for the climb. For water lovers, the wild and remote beaches in the north attract with their waves, paragliding also finds many fans here. Sailing and snorkeling fans also get their money’s worth on Skiathos. Around the island there are about 300 different fish species, as well as swordfish and tuna. If you are lucky, you can even meet dolphins and discover rare red corals on the seabed. The southern beaches offer beach bars and beach clubs, the right environment for sun-seekers.
