Excursions

Half-day excursion Paphos - This excursion presents you the city of Paphos, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site with its 2000 years of history. Your first destination is Geroskipou with the Cypriot Orthodox five-domed church Agia Paraskevi. Afterwards you will visit the "archaeological park" with the various Roman villas, where especially the wonderfully preserved mosaics arouse our interest. The underground royal tombs carved into the rock date from the Hellenistic and early Roman eras. Contrary to their name, they are not royal tombs, but rather the tombs of high-ranking officials and aristocrats. Another place to visit is the church of Panagia Chrysopolitissa with the Pauline Column. We round off this excursion with a walk along the old harbour of Paphos.

Full day excursion Troodos Mountains with Kykko Monastery and wine village Omodos - The Troodos Mountains with its small mountain villages and wild romantic landscapes are considered the green heart of the island. After a varied drive, you will reach the Kykkos Monastery, one of the island's places of pilgrimage, situated at an altitude of about 1,200 metres. After the tour with its modern murals and holy images, you will visit the mausoleum of Archbishop Makarios III, which is located on the mountain peak Throni. The drive continues into the region of the wine villages. Along picturesque vineyards you will reach Omodos, the most beautiful village of "Krasochoria". During a tour you will be impressed by the flair of the village. Try a glass of wine or the typical Cypriot coffee in a kafeneion.

Full-day excursion Chrysorroyiatissa Monastery - Panayia - Latchi - This excursion takes you to the 12th century Chrysorroyiatissa Monastery, 850 metres above sea level. The monastery, with its idyllic inner courtyard, is best known for the restoration and preservation of icons, as well as for its excellent wine production, of which you can see for yourself at a tasting. In this wonderful landscape, not far from the monastery, lies the village of Panayia, the birthplace of Makarios III. The route then leads via Polis to the idyllically situated fishing village of Latchi and to the Baths of Aphrodite, where, according to myth, the goddess of love and beauty is said to have taken a bath.

Full-day excursion Nicosia & Rocks of Aphrodite - The capital Nicosia offers its visitors a varied history with traces from the Orient and Occident. You will see the city wall from Venetian times and St. John's Cathedral, stroll through the pretty old town quarter of Laiki Geitonia and walk along the demarcation line, the so-called "Green Line". You will also cross the border to the northern part of the city, where you will visit the Caravanserai as well as Selimiye Mosque, the former Christian St. Sophia Cathedral. On the way back to Paphos, you will pay a visit to the beautifully situated, legendary Rock of Aphrodite. According to Homer, this is where the goddess of love rose from the foam of the sea.
