With the charter flight from GRUBER-Reisen, the summer already starts early: from 22 - 29 May 2023, you can travel directly from Klagenfurt to the Portuguese island of flowers in the Atlantic.

Madeira is an ideal destination for those seeking relaxation and nature lovers. No other island of comparable size offers such a varied landscape. Visitors enjoy the unique scenery in pleasant, spring-like temperatures. The unimaginable variety of flowers and plants make the natural paradise perfect.

Island of Aphrodite

Day 1: Klagenfurt - Funchal. Special flight from Klagenfurt to Funchal.

Day 2 - 7: Madeira. Stay at the hotel and free time. If you book one of the two excursion packages, you will discover the most beautiful places of the flower island by guided excursions.

Day 8: Funchal - Klagenfurt. Transfer to the airport and return flight to Klagenfurt.

Optional excursion packages:

Excursion "Traditional Funchal & Monte". You will visit the old town of Funchal, the cathedral, the market with its colourful fruit, vegetable and flower stalls, an embroidery factory and a winery, where you will also taste a glass of Madeira Wine. Afterwards, you will visit Monte or the pilgrimage church "Nossa Senhora do Monte" with the tomb of Charles I of Habsburg. Afterwards there is the possibility of a basket sleigh ride.

Full day excursion to the west of Madeira with lunch incl. drinks. Enjoy a breathtaking view from the steep cliffs of Cabo Girão. After visiting a banana plantation, the tour continues over the central high plateau Paúl da Serra to Porto Moniz, known for its natural water pools, and further along the wild and romantic north coast to São Vicente. After lunch, the route leads over the Encumeada Pass and through the valley of Serra d`Agua back to Funchal.

 

Full day excursion to the east of Madeira with lunch incl. drinks. The first destination is the Ponta de São Lourenço Nature Park with its spectacular volcanic rock formations. Via the charming village of Porto da Cruz and the viewpoint "Miradouro do Guindaste" you reach the village of Santana, famous for its small thatched houses. After lunch you will visit a

visit a trout farm and reach the Poiso pass. From here, a road leads to the 1,818 metre high Pico do Arieiro, making it the third highest mountain in Madeira. In good weather, you can enjoy a magnificent view over the mountain panorama. Afterwards we return to Funchal.

Full day excursion Path of the Nuns and the gardens of the "Quinta do Palheiro" with lunch incl. drinks and including the entrance fee to the garden. At an altitude of 1,094 metres, Eira do Serrado offers a breathtaking view over the valley as well as over the grandiose mountains of the Massif Central. Curral das Freiras is a village located in the middle of these rugged volcanic mountains. The name Nonnental is derived from the Portuguese Curral das Freiras. Next destination is the colourful fishing village of Câmara de Lobos. After lunch, we head to the gardens of Quinta do Palheiro - "Blandy's Garden". The gardens are famous not only for the variety of plants but also for the beauty of their location in the hills east of Funchal.
